About Jessica

Biographies have never been a strong suit of mine, but I'll give it a go, anyway. As you probably know, my name is Jessica. I'm an introvert who sometimes breaks out of her shell to become an extrovert. I love everything outdoors and prefer to spend my time camping or at the beach.

I'm happily married to my high school sweetheart and we have two grown children. I've always loved reading and writing, but with more time on my hands, I'm becoming obsessed! When people ask what I do for fun, the reply is usually: "Reading! And writing! And picking out pretty book covers to stare at." ;)

I love to garden! As soon as spring hits, my fingers are in the dirt, and I'm talking to the flowers. The biggest downfall is that I forget to water them, so a big shout out to my husband! He's the one who keeps it green once I plant them. (I just got an eye roll from the hubs as I write this.)

If you want to chat with me and see all the crazy shit I post about beach and camping trips, cover reveals, and upcoming projects, etc. then I highly suggest you pop over to my readers' group, Jessica Gomez's Book Lounge. A place to relax, while delving into my first book, INFECTED.

HOW DID I GET STARTED WRITING?

I've been writing for as long as I can remember. The first story I remember letting people read was in 5th grade for an assignment. My teacher called and spoke with my mom, telling her she thought it was, "A bit dark." Needless to say, my favorite authors were of the darker variety. My mom laughed the teacher off and encouraged me to continue writing. Since then, I've written poems, novellas, anthologies, and novels.

WHAT'S YOUR PROCESS LIKE AND HOW DO YOU GET IDEAS FOR YOUR STORIES?

Inspiration comes from everything. I can be in the mountains, on a beach or just driving down the street, when an idea comes to me. The Flash Series started because I watch WAY too many documentaries. Once I found out that I had natural hot springs in the mountains surrounding my hometown, a story began to emerge. Then developed a life of its own.

My process typically requires a few hours at a time, because I like to stare at the computer screen for a bit to figure out a roadmap for where the story is heading.

Lately, I've found some interesting covers and have decided to write stories around the covers themselves. I'm excited to try this style of writing and interested in seeing where it goes.

When I write, I also like to have mindless TV on in the background. This is a must for me for some odd reason. I typically will pick a long-running show and put it on in the background. I think it helps block everything else out somehow.
